Jane Gregory, b.1970, Greater London, is an oil painter working directly to canvas. She is a process artist who creates work through layering paint. She works directly from her intuition once the research has concluded. She re-imagines source material from photographs and objects. She is in communication with the canvas in a kind of collaboration and is inspired by the works of Nietzsche, Merleau-Ponty and Heidegger. She accomplishes large scale pictorial statements within limited colour palettes normally but not exclusively high key. She considers her life to be a string of pattern breaks and exists between the mainstream and individualism.
